A bit about me…

I was a teacher for seventeen years and Head of Geography for fourteen of those. In this role, I developed a great deal of experience constructing curricula and teaching A-Levels and GCSEs across different exam boards. I ran ski trips for ten years for almost 90 students and organised a number of geography trips to Iceland with the help of the experts at DTWE. Then in August 2023, I became one of the team, joining the company as a Travel Specialist in Sales.

Why I love being a Teacher Tour Leader…

I became a TTL because I see immense value in students experiencing the world for themselves, and Iceland provides an unbelievable backdrop for geographical learning across a vast range of topics. As a teacher previously and now a TTL, I love enabling students to develop their independence and confidence through travel.

I have been visiting Iceland every year or two since 2007 and have fallen in love with the country. I have led numerous and large groups of students both within the UK and abroad and I can now assist other teachers to deliver the best trips for their students through my knowledge and experience.

My favourite place in Iceland…

The island of Heimaey in the Westmann Islands, off the south coast, would be my go-to place for sheer beauty and an authentic experience of Icelandic life. However, when it occurs, an eruption on the Reykjanes Peninsula is a sight not to be missed and I was lucky to experience this in 2023 when the Litli-Hrútur eruption provided an unforgettable spectacle.
