Students will experience Spanish culture through immersive experiences like exploring historic landmarks and cooking local cuisine.

Our team of travel specialists and former MFL teachers know the importance of real-world learning when it comes to languages. That’s why our itineraries step away from the general and focus on providing unique activities that encourage engagement with locals and learning through fun activities that allow students to explore a region’s unique culture and diversity.

Throughout your trip, a specialist local language school tour leader will guide you, leading engaging activities, and ensuring that your key learning objectives are met. Your students will also benefit from our various pedagogical activities. These on-the-go sessions provide the ultimate classroom without walls, allowing your students to engage in targeted workshops and tailored teaching in local settings, all with an enhanced educational focus. With a maximum ratio of 15:1, your students have every opportunity to deepen their learning and build their confidence in real-world settings.

Day 2

Set the stage for the exciting day ahead, with a one-hour classroom workshop tailored to your students’ needs and today’s activities.

Put your skills into practice during a walking tour of El Puerto. Students will embrace the culture and learn more about El Puerto by visiting Plaza del Toros, the town centre and the Guadalete River. One of your stops will be the local market to shop for ingredients. The locals will be happy to help and share their culinary wisdom which gives students a chance to use their new vocabulary in a real-life situation.

After lunch, explore El Puerto Castle with a local guide. The medieval fortress is the heart of El Puerto de Santa María with a fascinating history; A mosque was built on Roman remains in 1264 AD and the qibla (the site of prayer indicating the direction of Mecca) remains. The mosque was transformed into a fortified church and later (end of 14thC) an outer wall was built to create the castle as it appears today. It is now owned by a Portuguese bodega, housing numerous barrels.

No trip to Spain is complete without sampling the delicious local cuisine. Indulge in delicious churros dipped in chocolate before putting understanding skills to the test by watching a Spanish film at Spark School.

Day 3

After this morning’s classroom activities, you’ll take a 30-minute ferry ride to Cádiz. Sit at the top of the deck for the best views of El Puerto and the Bay of Cádiz!

Once you have arrived in Cádiz, enjoy a guided tour of Torre Tavira.

Torre Tavira became the official watchtower of the harbour of Cádiz in 1778, being the highest point of elevation in the old part of the town. It houses Camera Obscura, an optical system that reflects images on a white screen of the scenes outside. On a clear day, visibility from the terrace extends 100 miles, including the African coast.

Next, explore Parque Genoves. The quintessential garden of Cádiz and the largest green space in the city. You’ll see fountains, a waterfall with a lake, an auditorium and many varieties of botanical species including a dragon and monkey puzzle tree.

Head back to El Puerto via ferry to enjoy a delicious tapas tasting. You’ll sample authentic tortillas, croquetas, montaditas and many more delights… Don’t forget to order them in Spanish!

Originating in Jerez, flamenco is an art form based on the various folkloric music traditions of southern Spain. Student’s listening skills will be tested as they’re guided by a professional teacher in Spanish. A great way to embrace the Andalusian tradition!

After you have worked up your appetite, it’s time for a cooking class. Learn how to cook paella through this interactive exercise. Your students will take instructions in Spanish from the chef as they create great food and memories.

Students can enjoy an afternoon of games on the Playa Puntilla before sharing presentations about their trip and an award ceremony, a great way to reminisce over some highlights and reflect on what they’ve learned.
