Overview

Take an unforgettable rail journey across Canada from the Atlantic to the Pacific. This epic adventure commences in the eastern Maritime province of Nova Scotia and traverses the country via the Rockies, culminating on Canada’s west coast in the beautiful city of Vancouver.

From historic Halifax you’ll board VIA Rail’s ‘Canadian’ train for the scenic route west. Pass through rural villages and the endless forests of New Brunswick, visit the French Canadian cities of Montreal and Québec, and spend time at Niagara Falls as you continue through Ontario. From here the landscapes give way from lakes and forests to the spectacular golden prairies of central Canada, as you make your way through the heart of Canada to Jasper, Alberta.

Here you can enjoy the breathtaking Rocky Mountains – a total contrast from the previous days’ flat terrain. Time will be available to experience the best of Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff, travelling by coach along the renowned Icefields Parkway before taking to the rails once more. The final leg of your journey will be on board the legendary Rocky Mountaineer to Vancouver.

During your adventure you’ll have plenty of opportunity to meet locals and fellow-travellers, and enjoy a choice of included excursions such as a visit to Niagara Falls, city sightseeing tours, wildlife viewing and a glacier experience. On arrival in Vancouver you can enjoy a spectacular sunset over the Pacific Ocean and look back on your incredible journey across the world’s second largest country.

Check in at Toronto’s Union Station and board VIA Rail’s ‘Canadian’ for an epic train journey across the prairies to the Canadian Rockies. Travel back in time to the days of classic rail travel; the original stainless steel ‘streamliner’ railcars, made famous by the ‘Canadian’ in the 1950s, have been totally refurbished with air conditioning, a café, lounge car and access to the viewing dome car. Settle in and make yourself comfortable, as ‘The Canadian’ will be your home for the next 3 nights.
