Tortuguero Turtle Experience

Head to the wild Atlantic beach after dark to witness the incredible phenomenon of green turtles nesting or hatching.

Your guide will lead you carefully down to the sea turtle nesting site, where four of the world’s seven species come to lay their eggs. Between July and October green turtles arrive in huge numbers, making their way ashore after dark to nest in the sand. From September to November the eggs start to crack open, revealing tiny hatchlings. Once the baby sea turtles emerge they make the perilous trek across the beach and straight into the pounding surf. You may witness as many as 100 hatchlings starting their adventure together – a truly incredible sight.
