Shimmering tail feathers stream behind, trailing up to 20 inches long, while its dazzling blue and green plumage reveals flashes of a ruby red chest when in flight. The cloud forests of the Quetzal National Park, near San Gerardo de Dota, are the ideal habitat for these almost mythical birds, with wild avocado trees providing both shelter and food.
