Poás Volcano, Doka Coffee and La Paz Waterfall, San José

Explore the highlights of the beautiful Central Valley, from its coffee plantations to its national parks.

Departing early in the morning from San José your first stop is the Doka Coffee plantation. Here you’ll learn the cultivation process as well as the interesting history of the farm. There’s also time for freshly brewed coffee before continuing to Poás Volcano National Park.

Poás is an active, 2,708-metre stratovolcano known for its immense crater which is over a mile wide and 1000 feet deep. Subject to conditions you may get close enough to see the sulphur fumaroles that line the crater.

From the volcano you’ll head to La Paz Waterfall Gardens Nature Park, where well-marked trails take in several impressive waterfalls and an animal sanctuary of over 100 species, including big cats. Lunch is included here before your return to San José.
