Lake Cruise and Island Nature Walk, Wanaka

Introduction

A half-day journey into some of the most magical areas of New Zealand’s Southern Lakes, this cruise departs by boat over the sparkling blue of Lake Wanaka and heads for the unique gem of Mou Waho Island sitting in the water’s centre.

Surrounded by inspiring alpine vistas, this cruise is a marvellous opportunity to relax and enjoy the views before going ashore to enjoy New Zealand’s wilderness a little closer to hand.

On arrival at Mou Waho, a 40-minute guided bushwalk will take travellers to the serene Arethusa Pools, which boast amazing views of the lake and rugged mountains.

The experienced guides share their knowledge of local history and native plant and animal life, with a particular focus on the birds and including the endangered Buff Weka that inhabits the island. Return transfers in Lake Wanaka and refreshments are included.
