CATIE Plantation Bike Tour, Turrialba

Explore the beautiful landscapes of CATIE (the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) by bike.

Dedicated to building and sharing knowledge about the management and sustainable use of natural resources in farming, this facility is world-renowned – and also features some great cycling trails!

Your guide will lead you to the Botanical Garden, stopping to admire the old kapok tree, towering stalks of bamboo, and colourful orchids and bromeliads. You’ll also pedal past fields of tropical fruit, coffee, and cacao, gaining an insight into sustainable farming in Costa Rica along the way. You’re likely to spot numerous endemic bird species too, so take your time and make sure you have a camera handy.
