Eco-friendly Coastal Cruising

The iconic Kystruten – or Coastal Route – between Bergen and Kirkenes was first plied in 1893 when the steamer DS Verstraalen set sail from Trondheim. For 130 years, vessels of all shapes and sizes have followed in her wake, ferrying goods to coastal communities and treating visitors to the spellbinding beauty of the Norwegian Fjords – from Bergen’s historic waterfront to the jagged peaks of Lofoten, and beyond to the North Cape at the top of mainland Europe.

Our portfolio of year round Havila Norwegian Coastal Voyages explores Norway’s spectacular fjords and islands on board Havila’s environmentally friendly ships, the most sustainable and eco-friendly fleet to sail these waters. Taking in 34 ports between Bergen and Kirkenes, opt for the 13-night round trip voyage, starting and finishing in Bergen, or choose a shorter one-way northbound or southbound voyage (7 or 8 nights).

The Ships

The Havila fleet of four ships (with 179 cabins each) are the most sustainable and eco-friendly ships to sail the Norwegian coastal route. With stylish interiors reflecting Norwegian nature, the ships have a glass-roof lounge to view the wonders of the northern lights or the midnight sun. Chefs create delicious Nordic cuisine with locally sourced ingredients while hot tubs are powered by surplus heat from the ships’ engines.
