Sahanlahti Resort is part of the Saimaa Gastronomy network, dedicated to celebrating pure, local ingredients and products from small, artisan producers. The delicious menus are crafted around the finest seasonal ingredients, with dishes that evolve in harmony with the changing seasons.

At Restaurant Koskivahti, located in the historic main building, originally the stately home of the Sawmill director and birthplace of renowned writer Elsa Heporauta, this elegant restaurant has a charming atmosphere.

Breakfast is a delightful experience, featuring homemade Karelian pasties, locally produced smoked ham, and organic barley porridge slow-cooked overnight from freshly ground grains.

Indulge in exquisite lunches and dinners crafted by talented chefs, while enjoying one of the most stunning views in Finland. Lunches include a seasonal menu, changing  daily, and showcasing the freshest ingredients.

Dinners are carefully curated à la carte meals, highlighting local flavours. Dishes include Tiisanmäki lamb from Savonlinna, Kaartila Mallaspossu pork from Juva, and Puumala’s renowned rainbow trout.

The Koskivahti Café is open from 10 am, serving freshly baked pastries, organic coffee, brewed tea from TeaHouse of Wehmais in Juva, along with refreshing summer drinks and ice cream.

The charming Rantamakasiini Restaurant, offers a unique experience with its stunning lake views, the tranquil hum of the marina, and the soothing sounds of birdsong. It’s the ultimate summer dining spot, where you can unwind on the sun-soaked pier terrace while sipping refreshing drinks and indulging in mouthwatering burgers from the lava stone grill or Neapolitan-style Saimaa pizzas from the new pizza oven. For a truly local flavour, don’t miss the fried vendace, served fresh right on the beach!

Sauna Experiences

Unwind with a relaxing sauna experience, followed by a refreshing dip in Lake Saimaa. With a variety of saunas to choose from, you’ll find the perfect one for your visit, along with the added luxury of two soothing hot tubs.

At the Artturi sauna building, you can choose between the rustic charm of a traditional smoke sauna or the convenience of a large electric sauna. The Artturi sauna also features a cosy lounge and two terraces with stunning views of Lake Saimaa.

For a more traditional experience, try the Niskalampi lakeside sauna, nestled right on the shore of Sahanlahti.

Accommodation

Elsanranta Villas

The modern Elsanranta Villas offer uninterrupted views of the stunning Lake Saimaa. Comprising of 10 villas across five separate buildings, each ensuring privacy within a natural setting.

Designed for two guests, each villa features a luxurious 200cm bed, a sofa, and an armchair. Amenities include tea and coffee-making facilities, a minibar, and a carbonator for sparkling drinks. The private sauna, high-end bathroom products, soft bathrobes, and slippers create a spa-like experience. Each villa also boasts a private terrace with seating, a hot tub, and breathtaking lake views.

Finnish materials and Scandinavian design define the interiors, with artisan designed dishes adding a touch of luxury. The décor incorporates local, high-quality woollen textiles, enhancing the sense of comfort and craftsmanship.

Each villa is uniquely adorned with a title photo by Finnish photographer Anu Hedborg, inspired by the Kalevala, a compilation of epic Finnish poetry,  from which the names of the villas —Ilmari, Väinämöinen, Aino, and others—are derived. This connection highlights Sahanlahti’s rich cultural heritage, influenced by Elsa Heporauta, a writer, cultural advocate, and founding member of Kalevala Jewellery. Born in Sahanlahti, Elsa’s legacy ties the Elsanranta Villas to the historical and cultural milieu of the region.

Saha Hotel

The hotel features nine spacious rooms, available as single or double accommodations, along with the unique Elsa Suite. The blend of old-fashioned wooden floors and modern interior design creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. Each room features a private bathroom, TV, minibar, hairdryer, and complimentary toiletries. Guests can enjoy either a private balcony or a shared terrace between two rooms.

The Elsa Suite features a spacious living room furnished with a sofa, rocking chair, armchairs, fireplace, and TV, along with access to a private terrace. The bedroom offers a large double bed, armchair, and terrace access, while the charming attic bedroom offers two additional beds for extra comfort.

Guests can relax in the suite’s private sauna, and the bathroom is equipped with a bathtub, a separate shower, and an additional toilet. The suite includes amenities such as bathrobes, slippers, a hairdryer, minibar, coffee and tea-making facilities, toiletries, firewood for the fireplace, and a barbecue.

Villas

The Sahankylä villas are perfect for couples or small families, offering a cosy and comfortable stay. Each villa features a fully equipped kitchen with an open-plan dining and lounge area, a double bedroom, and a sofa bed in the lounge that can accommodate either one adult or two children. Two of the villas also come with a private sauna and an additional sleeping loft, providing extra space for one guest.

Villa Kaima

Villa Kaima is perfect for up to six guests, offering a spacious open-plan kitchen and lounge for relaxing and entertaining. The outdoor terrace features a barbecue, a dining area, and a hot tub, ideal for unwinding in nature. The villa also boasts a private sauna and its own secluded beach, providing the ultimate lakeside retreat.

Kuoreksenniemi Villas

The Kuoreksenniemi Villas are stylish semi-detached homes featuring three spacious bedrooms. Designed with large panoramic windows, they offer stunning views, while the open-plan kitchen and living area create a bright and welcoming space. The outdoor terrace is perfect for relaxing, complete with a barbecue and dining area for enjoying meals al fresco.
