Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort

Introduction

True luxury in the midst of British Columbia’s coastal wilderness, the intimate Nimmo Bay Resort features just nine spacious-yet-cosy cabins.

The property is nestled in the foothills of Mount Stephens on the Great Bear Rainforest coast, accessible only by air or sea and surrounded by 50,000 square miles of pristine scenery. Half the resort floats on Nimmo Bay whilst the other half is grounded on the shore, with a magnificent waterfall providing a central focal point as well as energy and drinking water for the property.

Each guest cabin is constructed from solid wood in harmony with the surrounding environment, and each offers breathtaking views over Nimmo Bay. The six intertidal cabins, with their red-peaked roofs, are built on stilts over the bay, allowing the tide to rise and fall below. The resort’s cascading waterfall provides the backdrop to the three green-peaked streamside cabins. All cabins feature a comfortable living area, bathroom and two bedrooms, as well as an outdoor seating area. Little touches such as an umbrella, water-bottle, well-stocked mini-bar and home-made cookies ensure your cabin provides all you need for a comfortable stay.

The main lodge building floats on the peaceful bay, and houses the games room, gift shop, fitness centre and dining room. Here you can start your day with freshly-baked pastries, home-made granola or a hot breakfast, whilst dinner can be served either in the dining room or outdoors. Enjoy a three course coastal meal, freshly prepared and accompanied by an extensive selection of local wines, beers, or your favourite cocktail. Lunch is provided in the form of a gourmet picnic surrounded by spectacular landscapes as you venture out into the wilderness each day.

Other facilities at the lodge include two outdoor hot tubs, located right next to the property’s natural waterfall and a unique floating sauna, accessible by kayak or boat! Cool down in the waterfall plunge pool or try the rainforest rain shower. The ever-popular floating fire dock is the perfect place to relax at the end of the day with a glass of wine, cosy fire and setting sun. Why not try the ‘Wild within Wellness’ experience; a day long wellness retreat including a combination of body balancing treatments, energetic work and one on one sessions designed to soothe the soul and re-capture the spirit within.

A variety of activities is available to maximise your experience in and around beautiful Nimmo Bay. Choose from a wide selection to suit all tastes and levels of adventure, including bear-viewing, whale-watching, hiking, rock-climbing, kayaking, paddle boarding, fly-fishing and sunset boat trips. The resort can provide all necessary equipment, including hiking boots, waders, fishing gear, wetsuits and waterproof jackets and trousers.
