Lapa Rios Lodge, Osa Peninsula

From its lofty position high on a ridge overlooking the sparkling Pacific Ocean, Lapa Rios Lodge provides an exceptional off-the-grid experience.

This luxury eco-retreat enjoys a prime spot on the south-eastern tip of the Osa Peninsula, surrounded by a 1000 acre private rainforest reserve. Wooden walkways offer fantastic viewing opportunities over the treetops, where capuchin monkeys swing from branch to branch and scarlet macaws soar overhead.

The main lodge, restaurant, and 17 private bungalows are built with locally harvested materials and palm-thatched roofs. The ocean breeze and sounds of the jungle flow through the open-meshed windows, and every bungalow features a large private balcony with outside shower, double hammock, and spectacular views.

The restaurant offers a fine dining menu with ingredients grown on-site or sourced from high quality organic providers, all accompanied by an extensive wine list. There’s also a relaxed bar area and lovely swimming pool, as well as a spa where you can indulge in a range of treatments.

A choice of included experiences is available during your stay, from rainforest hikes and birdwatching, to guided tours into Corcovado National Park and wildlife cruises to Cano Island. The lodge’s naturalist guides are experts in the local flora and fauna, providing an enriching insight into the Osa Peninsula’s incredible biodiversity.

Sustainability at Lapa Rios

Lapa Rios Lodge was carefully designed with the aim of protecting the rainforest and supporting the local community. It has a low-impact construction and employs conservation practices such as solar power, rainwater collection, and waste recycling. Lapa Rios utilises locally-sourced biodegradable products and organic foods as much as possible. The staff are all local, and Lapa Rios invests in educating their team, the local community, and guests at the lodge about the importance of sustainability. Your stay includes a Conservation Support Contribution, ensuring a direct contribution to fund local conservation projects. If you want to get hands-on you can also take a guided sustainability tour to learn more about these initiatives, and even plant your own tree in the protected rainforest reserve.
