The founders of this boutique hotel fell in love with the idea that such a small fruit could be so valuable, so this small hotel became aptly named! Hotel Grano de Oro is just a few minutes away from the museums, shopping, markets and galleries of San José, perfectly placed to explore the vibrant capital city with its trendy barrios and culinary gems.

Hotel Grano de Oro’s 35 elegant, ornately furnished guest rooms feature sitting areas, minibars and coffeemakers. Upgraded rooms have their own terrace and the suites each have a private garden, living areas with sofa, and some feature whirlpool tubs. The hotel’s charming atrium, terrace, and corridors feature sparkling fountains and lush tropical plants, while the rooftop deck boasts two soothing Jacuzzis with a spot for secluded sunbathing.

The Grano de Oro restaurant is one of San José’s finest, serving French-inspired cuisine combined with local tropical ingredients, in a warm and intimate atmosphere. The dining room is adorned with antiques, a hand-carved wooden bar and an elegant Victorian patio.

Casa Luz Community Project

Grano de Oro’s owners also founded Casa Luz, a non-profit organisation that supports young single adolescent mothers. Casa Luz (House of Light) provides a safe living environment for victims of abuse, as well as much-needed financial, emotional, and psychological support.
